When will construction start?

The Construction will start once the Tender process is complete and the respective Tender Package is awarded to a deserving bidder

How will construction affect road conditions?

DMTC is committed to minimize the inconvenience arsing out of the construction of this Elevated Metro Rail system. Road and Traffic conditions are one of the mostly researched factors that were being scrutinized in minute details. In order to minimize damages to the road and traffic congestions, MRT Line-6 project has taken up a strategic plan based on numerous surveys of Traffic Pattern and existing Road conditions. Diversion of Traffic routes along the construction sites, introduction of alternate roads, erecting enclosures around the construction sites to prevent accidents and spillage will be a few steps among others to mitigate public suffering during construction. What is the environmental impact of this project?

When will the metro start its operation?

Originally the Metro Rail Line-6 was supposed to start Commercial operation in 2024. However, the Bangladesh Governement has identified the MRT Line-6 project as a 'priority project.' Therefore, DMTC is working hard to implement the project earlier than 2024.

The Trains will run every 4 Minutes 30 Seconds.

How much will the travel fare be?

Chapter -6 (Fare Etc.) of the Metro Rail Act passed by the Parliament of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in February 2015 specifies the policy as to how the Metro Rail fare will be decided. Please click on the following link to read the fare policy.

Will the train be air conditioned?

Yes, the Trains will be fully Air-Conditioned.

About MRT Line-6

What are the plans for expanding the metro beyond Line-6?

The Government of Bangladesh is working to implement a Revised Strategic Trasportation Plan, under which, the MRT Line-6 may be extended from both ends from Uttara to Gazipur and from Motijheel to Sayedabad.

What are your policies on gender equality and universal access?

Gender equality in employment: DMTC is an equal opportunity employer regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, marital status, disability, age, veteran status, on-the-job injury, sexual orientation, political affiliation or belief. Universal Access in Ridership: DMTC will have specific plans to ensure full access for Women, Children & persons with physical/mental impairment. Reserved Seating arrangement on the Train, separate Rest Rooms etc., will be in place to ensure access for all in the Metro Rail.

Who will operate the train?

DMTC will hire Train Operators as per the qualification criteria set by the Institutional Development Consultant. The hired operators will be sent overseas for hands-on Training on a running Metro operation.
